Leatherworking Classes added!

Have you been interested in learning a skill using leather? Well, here’s your chance!  Leatherworking classes have come to Hagood Mill Historic Site!  These classes are being taught by Amy Bright. In addition to leather crafting, Amy teaches belly dancing and runs the website Bright Eyes Art.

Currently, Leatherworking 101: Make a Cuff and Leatherworking 104: Fold-over Knife Sheath are being offered.

Leatherworking 101 is a great introductory course into leather craft.  You will make a wearable arm cuff to show off your new leatherworking talent!  The cost for 101 is $75 and the class is from 9 am to 12 noon on APRIL 19, 2024!

Leatherworking 104 is a great class to make a custom knife sheath for the knife you made in Blacksmithing 104: Intro to Knife-Making.  Even if you didn’t take the Blacksmithing class, you can bring a knife from home to make a sheath for.  This class costs $120 and is from 9 am to 3 pm.  Classes are scheduled for May 17 and 22.

We plan to add some other leatherworking classes in the future.  These may include carving and tooling Celtic designs, western-style designs, and making armbands.

Please note that there is a $25 materials fee for both classes that is due to the instructor on the day of the class.  Please make sure you check out our Classes page for more information!
