Take a Traditional Arts Class at Hagood Mill

Born of the desire to keep preserving upcountry life and culture, traditional art classes have been a focus of the Hagood Mill Historic Site.  From learning about blacksmithing to how to garden, Hagood Mill offers a variety of classes sure to pique curiosity.

The most popular classes at the site are the blacksmithing classes introduced by the site blacksmithing demonstrator, Kevin Thompson.  In the years since the first Blacksmithing 101 class was offered, there are now over a dozen more blacksmithing classes available for students.

The site has also begun offering hearth cooking classes, gardening classes, plant medicine and foraging classes, woodworking, fiber arts, and more.  Our goal is to continue to offer opportunities for people to come to Hagood Mill Historic Site and learn a skill from the past and maybe learn a little about themselves as they go.

More information about our classes can be found on our Classes page.
