Meet Local Author Charles Hood at Hagood Mill

Join us Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM for a special book signing with Dr. Charles Hood, author of Looking for Space: My Pickens Journey.

Charles grew up right here in Pickens and has captured the heart of small-town life, community, and memory in his touching and inspiring book. His story weaves together personal reflection, local history, and the spirit that makes Pickens home.

All royalties from Looking for Space are being donated to the Young Appalachian Musicians (YAM) Program, supporting a scholarship fund in memory of his late son, Ryan Hood — a gifted young musician.

Come meet Charles, pick up your signed copy, and enjoy a full day of music, culture, and celebration during our Native American Celebration at Hagood Mill Historic Site.
