Preserving History, Celebrating Heritage
Nestled in the scenic foothills of South Carolina’s Upstate, Hagood Mill Historic Site is a place where history comes to life. Established in 1845, the historic Hagood Mill remains one of the oldest operating gristmills in the state and serves as the heart of our site, grinding fresh cornmeal just as it did nearly two centuries ago.
Surrounding the mill, visitors can explore historic cabins, a blacksmith shop, a cotton gin, a moonshine still, and the renowned Hagood Creek Petroglyph Site, home to some of the most significant ancient rock carvings in the region. Through interactive exhibits, live demonstrations, and cultural events, we preserve and share the rich history of South Carolina’s early settlers and Native American heritage.
