Instructor: Donna Putney

Discover the healing power of one of nature’s most common “weeds” during this guided foraging walk around the beautiful grounds of Hagood Mill Historic Site. Perfect for curious beginners, this class also offers plenty of new insights for intermediate foragers looking to expand their knowledge.

Join foraging instructor Donna Putney as you learn to identify Plantain, often called “nature’s bandage” because of its long history of use for minor cuts, scrapes, insect bites, and other everyday outdoor ailments. Along the way, you’ll also discover additional wild edible and medicinal plants growing throughout the Hagood Mill campus and learn practical ways to safely identify and use them.

Whether you’re interested in herbal medicine, hiking, gardening, or simply becoming more connected with the natural world, this enjoyable one-hour walk will leave you with new skills and a greater appreciation for the valuable plants growing all around us.
