Junior Blacksmithing: Toasting & Roasting Fork Class
Step back in time and experience the art of blacksmithing in this hands-on class designed for young aspiring smiths! Students will forge their own colonial-era toasting forks while learning essential blacksmithing techniques such as splitting, drawing out, scrolling, bending, twisting, and finishing. Along the way, they’ll also discover the historical significance of toasting forks in the colonial period.
Lunch Break: 12:00 PM–1:00 PM (students may explore the site; lunch not provided)
Arrival Time: Please arrive at 8:45 AM to sign a liability waiver
Class Size: Minimum of 4 students, maximum of 6
Cost: $125 per student + $10 materials fee (due to the instructor on class day)
Registration: Advanced registration is required at least one week before the class unless approved by Hagood Mill staff and the instructor. Purchase tickets online or call 864-898-2936.
Important Information:
An adult must remain on-site during the class and lunch break.
Students must bring safety glasses and solid leather work gloves.
Proper attire is required: closed-toe shoes, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt for safety.
