Seed Starting Class: Growing Smarter, Not Harder

For Beginner to Intermediate Gardeners
Presented by Donna and Lenard Putney of Putney Farm, Honea Path, SC

🌱 Kickstart Your Garden with Confidence! 🌱

Whether you have a small backyard plot or a large garden, knowing how to start your seeds properly can make all the difference. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn multiple seed-starting methods to ensure strong, healthy plants ready for transplanting.

Donna and Lenard Putney will share their real-world experience, discussing what works best, what doesn’t, and why. Since timing is key to seed success, they will guide you in understanding USDA growing zones and how to access reliable gardening resources year-round.

Topics We’ll Cover:

✅ How to germinate seeds successfully
✅ Finding your agriculture zone and why it matters
Organic vs. non-GMO vs. treated seeds – what’s best?
✅ Proper seed depth and the meaning of “surface sowing”
✅ When and how to mulch for best results

Got questions? Every gardener does! This class will give you the answers you need to grow smarter—not harder.

🔹 Dress in layers and bring gloves. Please avoid wearing perfumes as we will be working with plants.

🌿 Bonus: Potted plants and handmade herbal products will be available for purchase from the instructors.
