Blacksmithing 104: Introduction to Knife-Making Class

Step into the world of blade forging with our Introduction to Knife-Making class! This hands-on course will teach students how to craft a Viking-style blacksmith’s knife from a single piece of 1075 carbon steel.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Drawing out a blade, tang, handle, and guard from one piece of steel
  • Proper forging techniques to shape and refine the knife
  • Hardening and tempering for durability and edge retention
  • Grinding and finishing to bring the blade to its final shape

This class is designed for those eager to explore knife-making, but it is highly recommended that students first complete Blacksmithing 101 to gain a foundational understanding of shop setup, coal fire management, forge operation, and working with heated steel.
